question number 188 I am planning to make a stop-over in Singapore for 1 day on my way to India. Just me and my wife. I would appreciate if you can share your ideas on what I could do to cover as much as possible.

I would be interested to know :
-Which hotel is good ? inside airport or outside
-Is it better to take a tour or go around ourselves?
-List of activities and places I shouldn't miss

Which hotel is good ? inside airport or outside
------------
-Raffles Hotel and Fullerton Hotel may be expensive but they are among the best.
-Is it better to take a tour or go around ourselves
-Calling cards are much cheaper, if you want to call US or India.

Is it better to take a tour or go around ourselves?
------------
-yourself is Ok, taxi is very cheap - 20 SGD will take you across the country. Taxi drivers are educated and friendly and will give you good suggestions if you ask any question. I will recommend SIA Tourbus, if wish to take tour operator
- Public transport is cheap and good and crime non-existent; one is better off hopping on public transport (buses/subway etc)
- 'Singapore on Holiday' guys have plenty of coupons. You can use free Hop-on buses

Activities and places I shouldn't miss
------------
-Sentosa Island and Jurong Bird park. The bird park is really beautiful if you are a nature and animal lover. In the evening there is a free fountain show in sentosa island. It takes about 1/2 day to 2/3 day in total.
- Admissions to the attractions are very cheap; But SOH also had some useful coupons
-In Singapore Airport, you have Kauveri restaurant, for complete south Indian food.
- Little India have lot of Indian hotels, Mustafa market here is little cheaper.

Singapore is a beautiful country. It's clean, safe, and just about everyone speaks English.
I really like the Singapore Science Center which is really educational and fun to walk through. This could take a whole day, though. What you could also do is just stroll through Clarke Quay, take pictures with the famous Merlion and the new arts building (it looks like a durian).
If you want you can also do some shopping on Orchid road.
I think it's better to go around by yourself because you only have a day. It's best to pick one or two things to see so you don't get stressed, and do those things thoroughly and happily. Just remember to try new things, meet new people, and eat yummy food. Try some laksa if you can handle spicy :-).
Have fun!
