question number 273 I just got wonderful new towels for my bathroom, and I am wondering how I should wash them. The labels says that they should be washed with like colors...nothing really specific. Should I use liquid softner or a sheet? I want them to be as nice and soft after washing as they are when they are brand new. Any tips?

One strict rule to keep about towels is never to use fabric softener. NEVER. This is because the fabric softner will coat your towels and they will no longer be absorbent. After all, what is the point of having soft towels if they do not do what towels are supposed to do: that is, get you dry...
What I like to do is wash all my towels together in hot water. I like to think this kills all the bacteria and gets rid of whatever might be on the towel. I'm sure the dryer also takes care of this, though.
In the dryer, I put the towels on medium heat, and I let them air-fluff for a bit at the end so that they are fluffy and softer. I also use lavender-scented detergent so they smell comforting :-)
