question number 980 What should I listen to when test driving a vehicle from a used car dealer?

I always test drive the vehicle from the used car dealer's lot. If possible, I drive on a non-busy street, with the music off, and windows rolled down. This way, noises coming from the engine and elsewhere can be easily detected that possibly couldn't be found from the used car dealer in Los Angeles. Keep an open ear for knocking or rattling sounds, squeaking brakes, and signs of possible transmission, brakes, suspension, or steering problems. If there are problems, take the car back to the used car dealer pronto.
