question number 212 Please provide feedback on medical insurance provider for USA visitor, specially any good/bad experiences in dealing with claims.

Compiled response for medical insurance for US visitors:
--------

For health insurance, you could checkout : http://health.indianetwork.org/. I have used it for my parents. Fortunately we did not have to use it. However, I hear they are good.

--------

I heard IMG is pretty good. They provide service in US and the premium is around 75$ a month.

--------

See www.nrilic.com for SRI's Inbound USA Policy.

--------

We bought insurance from here only. We did some research and everyone said buying insurance here is better especially for emergencies when you have to make any claims. We went for Liason comprehensive plan.

--------

I used http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/. But didn't file any claim. Not sure about the quality of the service. What they charge is fairly reasonable.

--------

I used this when my parents were visiting earlier this year:
Ram Chandran (408) 270-1854 http://www.mminsurance.net/inbound/

--------

Compared Visitors Care, Protection America, Patriot America, Visit USA Travel Insurance services. Among four the Protection America seems to be good, we can renew it before it expires. Also the cost with $500 deductible is $467.00 for 3 months.

--------

I bought insurance from Visit USA, (through an agent). It cost $1000 for 4 months coverage for my mother who is 48yrs old.

She needed hospitalization ( > $1000 ). Her operation cost was $900. The insurance paid for everything without any problems. The deductible was $100 each time, and I had to pay first, then getre-imbursed.

Community Insurance Agency
Broker/President Ramesh Patel, 3116 W. Devon Ave., Suite 203,
Chicago IL 60659.
1-800-344-9540

--------

I got my parents insurance via Nationwide (their short-term major medical policy). So far, I have extended it to 270 days, and they are refusing to extend it any further.

It costs about $100 a month (Not cheap) although, the rates are less past the first 90 day extension. I found the basic policy from Nationwide to have much better terms than one I found from a Cal. company (somewhere in Big Walnut creek), for about the same amount of money.

--------

I have used the insurance from www.wallach.com. They are reliable, have paid the bills on time, you get a ID card so that you don't have to cough up the money (you still have to pay your portion though) upfront when seeing a doctor and the doctor can directly bill them for any covered charges.

Opinion: seems to be expensive

--------

Use www.travelinsure.com

--------

Check the http://www.ahip.org/default.aspx
Also check the following insurance company if they have any insurance plan for Visitors.

To report frauds for insurance claims, check http://www.avoidfraud.org/

--------

I took insurance for my mom from http://kvrao.org . Pls read the forum from http://forum.path2usa.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23 & you'll conclude taking insurance from US!

--------

I am assuming the medical insurance for visitors who are coming for non-business purpose. I think it is advisable to take coverage from a company in US. I have purchased coverage from International Medical Group and from India Network Foundation (http://ns.indnet.org/) in the past. I actually had to use the latter and the processing was very smooth. You can also check other available options at http://www.immihelp.com/

--------

Check the following insurance people what they offer for visitor insurance.
