Requirement Posted- 2007-08-16 03:18:35.0
Location- Pasadena, CA 91101
Details- My computer froze Monday afternoon, and powering on and off I get the following message: "Hard disk error, press ctrl, alt, del to restart" (or something similar). At one point I heard clicking. I took my computer in and their are definitely no viruses, and when viewing my harddrive on their computer, but the could not move, copy or open the files. It told them they didn't have access. They thought it was b/c I had a password on my laptop (although it didn't ask for a password), but now I just think it won't let them access the files, because my hard drive is corrupt. Please give me an estimate both for dollars and time. I havent recd a few estimates already and one company told me the following: if a logical problem it should cost about $300, if mechanical $500-$900, and if drive run over or damaged in fire, etc max of $1275. The also said hard drive size is irrelvant to price b/c ratio of error is same. Also said work in dust free clean room - please verify if use dust free clean room as well. Most all the documents I need are saved on my desktop and all are data files (word, pdf, xcel) Don't need any pics or music, etc, nor do I think I have any. Thanks in advance for your help.

Location- San Gabriel, CA 91776
Details- Hello,

I have a 20GB External SCSI Hard Drive connected to Mac 8100.

(Seagate Cheetah SCSI Model #: ST318203LW)

The computer doesn't see the drive when I boot it up.

It's Gryph Swappable SCSI Drive,

and other drives work fine in the same bay.

How much would it cost to recover data from something like this instance?

Please let me know.

thank you so much!

question number 62 My hard drive crashed after de-fragmentation. It is a dell laptop with win XP on it. I have some really important data I can not afford to loose it. Please advice. Any good professional ?

You can also try some software: http://www.highergroundsoftware.com/
They also have some software tools at Fry's (though the customer service there is not the best).

I know my cousin had used people from MicroForensics.com after his hard disc had died. I just went to their site and you can call at (415) 482-9952. My cousin was very pleased after he recovered all his wedding pictures, otherwise he would have to marry again!
