I live in a prefab house with a sheet metal roof. In winter, my house is like a freezer and in summer it's like an oven, even at nighttime. I guess the sheet metal makes the heat even more intense and transmits it into my house. What can I do?

For summertime, get air conditioning, or get a fan. For winter, get a heater.

Check out insulation4less.com to learn about a product for insulating metal. It is called Prodex, I think, and comes in a roll of foilbacked material that is about 1/4 inch thick, needs a 3/4 inch air space on either side and can be taped in place or stapled on furring strips. Comes in four foot wide rolls and other widths and with a special foil tape. In standard construction it has an R 14.5 and is supposed to reflect 97 % of the radiant heat. In metal buildings it outperforms an R30 fiberglass bat. So says the literature. I am trying it in my desert home and have to wait till I finish installing it to report results. Good luck.
