Obviously keeping the moves in Belly Dance small means that generally it is easier as less overall body movement is needed to the point that it almost possible to keep the rest of the body still. Once the move becomes larger then the thing can go one of two ways. For minimal energy expenditure other parts will tend to move in a counterbalancing way and of course more body parts are moving and at the beginner level the whole thing can look gangly and clumsy. Another style in Belly Dance Training is to brace the rest of the body to maintain stillness and this gives the dance a totally different feel. This is more characteristic of the Classical Egyptian style, which you can learn in Belly Dance Training classes

Often beginners in Belly Dance Training tend to make moves quite large as the ballistic effect can sort of carry the move through but the result is hopelessly uncoordinated and a big strain. Far more effective is to learn the Drill move really slowly in your San Francisco Belly Dance Training class and keeping the body still. Though people may find this quite difficult at first in Belly Dance Training, in the end by doing the move very slowly there is a guarantee that full accuracy is arrived at by a genuine muscle control rather than simply through a ballistic action.

Once the size of move in Belly Dance Training is increased, then more and more of the rest of the body is involved in the move. In order to make the counterbalancing move look really smooth and accurate requires a very high level of skill once the primary move becomes large. A good example is the Tunisian Hip Drop, which is taught in Belly Dance Training at any good San Francisco studio. When this is done with large amplitude, the entire body is counter-twisting and for this to look credible takes actually years of dance practice in Belly Dance Training
